You’ve already explored all the brightest sights of Moscow, strolled through the big as well as the small secret streets of our capital, but your soul is still asking for just a bit more cultural food. Then you should definitely visit the Pushkin Museum of Art with professional guide.

The museum stores about 700 thousand works of many different periods, beginning with Ancient Egypt and ancient Greece and ending with the beginning of the XXI century. A big part of the exceptional exhibition in the Museum consists of a collection of fine French art of the XIX-XX centuries, which is one of the most famous in the world. The museum holds loads of rare artifacts — from Egyptian mummies to a unique collection of world art, including masterpieces by Rembrandt, Botticelli, Cezanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh, Picasso and Matisse. Pushkin Museum of Art is also a popular venue for temporary exhibitions, both Russian and foreign.

You will explore:

At the opening ceremony of the museum, Emperor Nicholas II personally attended.

Before the revolution, only sculptures were exhibited in the museum. Pictures were added to the exhibition only after the revolution, when private collections were confiscated and nationalized.

From 1941 to 1944, the entire museum’s collection was evacuated to Novosibirsk and Solikamsk.

After the Second World War, the museum was replenished with collections of the Dresden Gallery and Western European museums.
